METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

March 12, 2023
Jordan B. Youman, 25, of Metropolis was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Burglary, Theft and Theft from a coin operated device. The investigation started at 6:11 a.m. when an alarm was triggered at Hope Unlimited. Officers arrived quickly and all appeared secure. A second alarm went off at 6:34 a.m. and officers and found a door ajar. A search showed nobody inside. Officers then viewed video surveillance and observed a male had used some sort of tool both times to gain entry. Checking other businesses, officers observed the subject break into a vending machine at the car wash on 5th and Main. At 9:35 a.m., officers received a report of a subject running from Harrah’s with a woman’s purse in his hand. He stopped at the Baymont lot and was going through the purse. Responding officers observed the subject running from the Baymont lot into the neighborhood. An Illinois Conservation Police officer was in the area and assisted in the hunt for the subject. A Metropolis sergeant observed a subject matching the description in the alley. The subject was apprehended in the backyard of a residence. Video surveillance from the casino and hotel confirmed this was the subject. The victim of the purse theft was located and the items taken from the purse were recovered as well. Youman was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

March 16, 2023
Metropolis officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in the Humma Apartments on East 3rd Street. Upon arrival, officers met with Rosemary J. Bordoy, 46, of Metropolis. Bordoy was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge. She was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

March 17, 2023
John D. Kommer, 54, of Metropolis was arrested on Carter Drive. Kommer was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear on a charge of violation of an order of protection. Kommer was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

March 18, 2023
A Metropolis officer stopped a white GMC Yukon for having a defective light on U.S. 45 and I-24. A computer check on the driver, William E. Canada, 48, of Ashland, TN revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Canada was able to post bond and was released.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
