CREAL SPRINGS – Delores Louise (Erwin) Bowers, age 86 and resident of Creal Springs, IL and formerly of McLeansboro, IL, passed away 5:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Oak View Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Calvert City, KY.
A visitation service will be held 10:00 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL.
The funeral service will follow at noon, Saturday, May 20, Harre Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin McNeely officiating.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, west of McLeansboro, IL.
Delores was born July 19, 1936 in Russell, Kansas to Carroll J. Erwin and Mary Louise (Meeks) Erwin. She married Donald E. Bowers on June 26, 1954 at The United Methodist Church in Dale, IL. In later years she was employed as a secretary by the University of Tennessee at Martin, TN for about 12 years. She later acquired her Real Estate Broker License and also served as the school secretary at Antioch School near Antioch, IL She attended Harrawood Grade School 6 years; Broughton Jr. High 2 years; M.T.H.S. 4 years and John A. Logan College 1 year. She was a member of Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church, Marion, IL.
Survivors include daughters Diana L. Angell, Hawaii; Denise Jones (Husband Scotty) of Kevil, KY; sons Dale E. Bowers (wife Julie), Energy, IL; Doug Bowers, Creal Springs, IL; 7 grandchildren: Dr. Joshua Bowers (wife Cindy), Jared Angell, Sara Angell (Elie), Rachel Stuart (husband Richard), Elizabeth Williams, Lauren Jones and Nathaniel Jones and wife
Montgomery; 8 great-grandchildren: Mia Bowers, Landon Bowers, Kennedy Bowers, Molly Stuart, Kate Stuart, Madeline Williams, Yoav Angell and Sladen Angell, brother Jerry Erwin and wife Alma of Marion, IL.
Preceding Delores in death were her parents Carroll and Reverend Mary Erwin and husband Reverend Don Bowers.
Memorials are requested for Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church of Marion, IL and will be accepted by Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL, the family or the church.
