BENTON – A Orient man has been charged with theft and attempted burglary in Franklin County.
Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says on May 2, a rural Thompsonville resident reported the theft of an ATV.
Information was recently obtained concerning the theft and potential location of the stolen ATV.
Franklin County deputies requested assistance from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in checking a location in Johnston City.
As a result, the ATV was recovered and further information concerning the theft was obtained.
Soon after, deputies located the theft suspect, 22-year-old Cletis D. Hanks, in Orient. He was placed under arrest and charged with theft. As a result of this investigation, Hanks was also charged with the attempted burglary of the American Legion in Orient. He is currently lodged in the Franklin County Jail.
Sheriff Bacon says these incidents are both still under investigation and further arrests are possible.
