METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

May 22, 2023
A Metropolis officer observed Jacqueline D. Oliver, 49, of Metropolis at the Spence Apts. near 7th and Yasoda. Oliver was wanted on a warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for FTA – Possession of Methamphetamine, 3 counts of Possession of Controlled Substances and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Oliver was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to a fight in progress at 7th and Catherine. Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak with a male involved in the incident. He was very uncooperative and refused to listen to the officers. He refused to identify himself after numerous requests. He then tried to leave. Clifford V. Reed, 49, of Metropolis was arrested and charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer/Refusal to Identify. Reed was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

May 23, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance on I-24 MP 37. Officers learned that Travis l. Miller, 39, of Metropolis struck the victim with a wooden walking stick. Upon arrival, the investigation led to the arrest of Miller for Domestic Battery. Miller was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

While on patrol, a Metropolis officer observed Curtis W. Whited, 43, of West Paducah, KY on property in the 700 block of Catherine. The officer was aware that Whited had been previously trespassed from the property by both the owner and numerous Metropolis officers. Whited was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass to Property. Whited was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

May 25, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to a residence in the 2000 block of Devers. The caller stated that the victim had been choked. Upon arrival, officers learned that the offender had left. The victim stated that she had been in an argument with Lincoln H.G. Lang, 25, of Metropolis. She tried to leave and he would not let her. The victim stated that she was pushed and choked by Lang. Lang also took her cell phone when she tried to call the police. Massac County Sheriff’s deputies went to check a residence in the 600 block of E. 6th Street. Lang was located there. Lang was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery, Unlawful Restraint and interfering with domestic violence reporting. Lang was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

May 27, 2023
A Metropolis officer stopped an orange Chevrolet pickup truck for speeding 58 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. The stop was made on 5th and Cherry St. A computer check showed that the registration had been cancelled and that the driver, Jakob I. Kipp, 20, of Ft. Myers, FL did not have a valid driver’s license. Kipp was charged with No Valid Driver’s License, No Valid Registration and Speeding. Kipp was released on bond.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
