CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police have identified the suspect and the victim in Wednesday night’s fatal stabbing that happened in the 400 block of East Larch Street.

Police say they are looking for 44-year-old Terrance D. Ware of Carbondale.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney assisted detectives in obtaining an arrest warrant for Ware charging him with first-degree murder. Ware has not yet been located.

In the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Ware as the suspect. Ware was last seen leaving the area in a vehicle, which has since been located in Carbondale and impounded by detectives.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old William M. Pittman of Carbondale.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.

According to Carbondale Police, officers arrived on scene just after 7 p.m. Wednesday regarding an individual who was injured during a fight. Officers located the victim with stab wounds. The victim was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Police say the victim was stabbed by the suspect he knew over a personal disagreement. The suspect was not on the scene when police arrived. The victim later died of his injuries at the hospital.
