Police found 44-year-old Terrance D. Ware Friday evening and arrested him on the warrant without incident in the 400 block of West Jackson Street. Ware was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney assisted detectives in obtaining an arrest warrant for Ware charging him with first-degree murder. At the time the warrant was issued, Ware had not yet been located.

During the investigation, detectives were able to identify Ware as the suspect. Ware was last seen leaving the area in a vehicle, which was in Carbondale and impounded by detectives.

Police arrived on scene just after 7 p.m. Wednesday regarding an individual who was injured during a fight. Officers located the victim with stab wounds. The victim was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Police say the victim was stabbed by the suspect he knew over a personal disagreement. The suspect was not on the scene when police arrived. The victim later died of his injuries at the hospital.
