HERRIN – Your invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for the City of Herrin’s new fire station on Monday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at 1609 S. 13th St. in Herrin.

According to the Herrin Fire Department, once the new 13,360 square foot single story station is complete, it will include three apparatus bays, an administration area, training room, kitchen, dining room, fitness area and sleeping quarters. This new facility will replace the existing fire station. The new fire station will be staffed with existing personnel and equipment, and provide a modern, efficient fire station to serve the City of Herrin.

The estimated cost of the project is $7 million, which is being paid for by a General Obligation Bond. The estimated time frame for completion of the project is 400 days.
