METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023.

November 14, 2023

Metropolis officers were called to the Party Hut for a theft. The caller advised that a subject stole a bottle of whiskey valued at $150. Upon looking at the video surveillance, the officer recognized the offender as Cesar V. Mounts, 32, of Brookport. Officers then went to a residence in the 500 block of W. 10th St. where they knew he might be staying. Mounts and the whiskey were located. Mounts was arrested for retail theft and released on a notice to appear. 

Stacey N. Owens, 30, of Metropolis was arrested in an apartment at the Spence Building. Owens was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for ID Theft. Owens was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 17, 2023

Metropolis officers were called to Walgreens for a theft. Officers learned that the subject had removed the anti-theft ring from a bottle of Vodka and hid the Vodka in his coat. Cesar V. Mounts, 32, Brookport, was located in the front lobby of Walgreens. The bottle of Vodka was recovered. Mounts was again arrested and charged with retail theft and released on a notice to appear.

November 19, 2023

A Metropolis officer stopped a black Chevrolet for speeding 88 mph on I-24 at MP 37. A computer check showed that the driver, Dairyn O. Collier, 24, of Raytown, MO, had a suspended drivers license. Collier was charged with the speeding and suspended license. He was released on a notice to appear.
