CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police Chief Stan Reno has announced that the Carbondale Community Christmas Store is in operation once again at the Carbondale Police Department for the 23rd year.

Each year the Christmas Store along with the Coats for Kids program, provides new coats and new toys for children ages 1 thru 10 from Carbondale. The Christmas Store is a way for the police department and the community to help those families in need from Carbondale.

Chief Reno says they are accepting donations of new toys and new coats in the lobby of the Carbondale Police Department and the Civic Center Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. New coats can also be dropped off at the SIU Men’s and Women’s basketball games through Dec. 8.  Financial donations from individuals or groups can also be dropped off at the Carbondale Police Department.

The chief says together we can make a difference for children in need in the Carbondale community. The staff and police officers with the department are proud to continue this initiative to help provide for the families of 150 children during the holiday season.

The Carbondale Police Department appreciates all those who are able to partner with us during this charitable time of year.
