CENTRALIA (WMIX) – Centralia High School Superintendent Chuck Lane says recent reports on social media of investigations into a teacher or teachers at the school are completely false.

According to Lane, two individuals have requested and received information through the Freedom of Information Act. But he says that information does not support the claims made online.

The social media page says one teacher recently resigned and that a school resource officer, substitute teacher and janitor were fired within weeks of each other for inappropriate actions around students.

The page further claims Illinois State Police have seized evidence and are investigating emails forensically.

While Lane says he cannot comment on personnel issues, he said he confirmed there are absolutely no investigations being conducted by Centralia Police or Illinois State Police into Centralia High School staff or teachers.

Centralia Police confirmed Lane’s comments, saying nothing has been reported to CPD or ISP and neither agency is currently investigating anything claimed in the story. CPD added that their school resource officer was not fired, as was also claimed online.
