METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024.
Feb. 5, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to the Quality Inn in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the caller who stated that a male subject was fighting with a female and was preventing her from leaving. An investigation revealed that the victim and George S. Lichtenberg, 41, of Benton, KY, had been arguing and that he struck her in the face with a bag containing frozen burritos. Officers observed injuries to her face. The victim confirmed that Lichtenberg held his hand over her mouth and was dragging her to the elevator when she was able to break free. Lichtenberg was arrested and charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery and Unlawful Restraint. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Feb. 6, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to Charlie’s Party Hut on West 10th Street. The caller stated that they were being followed by Franklin D. Lindstrom, 58, of Metropolis. An investigation revealed that Lindstrom was violating an order of protection. Lindstrom was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Niomi H. Meeker, 49, of Metropolis was arrested in the 1300 block of Ferry Street. Meeker was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County on a order of attachment. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
