LAKE OF EGYPT – A man was recently cited for having illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and theft in progress on Power Plant Road near Lake of Egypt.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, responding deputies found James A. Avant at a utility substation attempting to load a large spool of wire into his pickup.
While investigating Avant confirmed the wire did not belong to him and was taken into custody. Avant was also discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Avant was arrested and cited for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. He was taken to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
The sheriff’s office is continuing its attempt to locate the company or sub-contractor owner of the stolen wire and is asking for your help.
