SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – IDOT says a 25-mile patching and resurfacing project on Illinois 3, from Howardton Road, near Grand Tower, to the Cape T intersection (Illinois 3/Illinois 146) in Jackson, Alexander and Union counties, will begin weather permitting Monday, March 4.

The $11.6 million improvement project will include lane closures on Illinois 3, with traffic controlled by flaggers during work and is scheduled to take place over two consecutive construction seasons.

You can expect minor delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
