SPRINGFIELD – State Senators Dale Fowler and Terri Bryant have been named a Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for their contributions to the defense of free enterprise and job opportunities for all Illinoisans.
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce evaluated legislators based on their voting records on key business legislation that impacts Illinois’ business community. The Champion of Free Enterprise Award is reserved for legislators whose voting record supports policies that drive economic development, create jobs, and reduce regulatory burdens on businesses.
As one of the largest business voices in the state, the Illinois Chamber represents a wide range of employers, from small entrepreneurs to large international companies located in every community in Illinois.
“Our state’s business community is the backbone of our economy, and at a time where they face increasing taxes and burdensome regulations, it’s more important than ever that lawmakers prioritize pro-growth, pro-business policies,” said Senator Fowler. “I am honored by this recognition and proud to stand with the businesses of Southern Illinois and the job creators who drive our state’s bright future.”
“Our small businesses are the bedrock of our economy, and it is essential that lawmakers put into place policies that create an environment where they can thrive,” said Sen. Bryant. “I will continue to fight for policies that reduce unnecessary and burdensome regulations and promote job growth and economic opportunity across our state.”
The Illinois Chamber’s staff and Government Affairs Committee rated all members of the 103rd General Assembly based on legislators’ votes on the key business legislation. The Champion of Free Enterprise Award was given to members who demonstrated through their voting record a commitment to legislation that frees the entrepreneurial spirit and supports Illinois’ job creators.
