MCLEANSBORO – David Wendell Stover 82, of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
David was born June 25, 1943, in McLeansboro. He was a son of Walter “Hub” Stover and Maud (Mezo) Stover. On August 5, 1961, he married Charlene Kay (Brown) Stover and she passed away October 8, 2012. On January 16, 2016, he married Dionis (Villatoro) Stover and she survives.
David attended the First General Baptist Church of McLeansboro, IL. He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Dionis Stover; sons, Gregory Lee Stover and wife Kim from Louisiana, Jeffrey Alan Stover and wife Christie, McLeansboro, IL, and Michael Shane Stover and wife Toni, Jacksonville, FL; and a stepson, George Elliot Henriquez and wife Laura, San Pedro Sula, Honduras; grandchildren, Jonathan, Shaelynn, Luke, Caden, Justin, Ian and Aubrie; along with great-grandchildren, Alaina, Liam, Landon, Madyline, Hayden, Remmington and Averie.
David is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kay Stover; brother, Danny Stover; and sisters, Sue Stover Roundtree and Georgiana Miller.
Visitation for David Stover will be Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Barry Steed officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro, IL.
