SPRINGFIELD – As the Illinois House Gun Violence Prevention Committee met in Springfield Wednesday morning to discuss community Violence Intervention, committee member, State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) told his colleagues and those in attendance that his major goals from the session was to hear answers to organizational vetting, transparency, and accountability.

Windhorst pointed to the fact that recently, Governor JB Pritzker appeared at an anti-violence press conference with an individual associated with an anti-violence group who was later arrested for a fatal smash and grab burglary.

The representative went on ask who was responsible for auditing these taxpayer dollars, how do we ensure that the funds are being spent properly and effectively, and if the money is misused, stolen, or misappropriated, is there accountability.
