MCLEANSBORO – Edward L. Anselment, 76, of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. Ed was born February 16, 1949, in McLeansboro, IL. He was the son of Albert Peter Anselment and Aurelia (Roesch) Anselment. On September 4, 1971, he married Cathy Ann Hopfinger, and she survives.

Ed worked at Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Piopolis. Ed was a gardener and a carpenter who loved woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Honor Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy; sons: Terry Anselment and wife Angie of Adams, TN; Jason Anselment and wife Katie of Springfield, IL; Ryan Anselment and wife Sara of Springfield, IL; and Mark Anselment and wife Megan of Huntingburg, IN. Also surviving are grandchildren: Abby, Maria, Grace, Claire, Julia, Evan, Dylan, Catelyn, Landree, and Remi Anselment. A brother, Albert T. Anselment and wife Pat; and sisters: Delores Anselment, Marcy Heath, Cleo Rapp, Rita Grubb and husband Kenny, Mary Rawls, and Sharon Rapp and husband Steve also survive.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Tony, Paul, Dave, and Bill Anselment; and a sister, Bernadine Spencer.

Visitation for Ed Anselment will be Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 4–8 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis. A Rosary will be held Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Piopolis, IL.

Memorials may be given at the funeral home or church for St. John the Baptist Church or St. Jude.
