MCLEANSBORO – William S. Cannon, Jr. of McLeansboro, IL, passed away at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

“Billy” was born March 2, 1943, in Madison, Indiana. He was the son of William Cannon, Sr. and Audrey (Horton) Cannon. On April 20, 1993, he married Mary J. (Bowers) Cannon in West Palm Beach, Florida, and she survives.

Billy was a member of the Lick Creek Church and a self-employed real estate agent. He loved deer hunting and also enjoyed lapidary work.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters: Sandy Schnars and husband Rich of Wellington, FL, and Linda Kivaitek of Wellington, FL; three stepchildren: Shane and Bobbie Ping of McLeansboro, Leslie and John Irvin of Palmetto, FL, and Janie Cooksey of Harrisburg, IL. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Trish Williams and husband Henry of Lake City, FL; in-laws, Bill and Barb Bowers of McLeansboro, IL, Paula Fraley of Eldorado, IL, Debbie and David White of McLeansboro, Jerry Bowers of McLeansboro, Mike Bowers of McLeansboro; the Horton family of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Linda Veatch of McLeansboro, IL.

Donations for St. Jude will be accepted at the funeral home.
