MCLEANSBORO – The Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation is proud to announce the creation of a new full-ride Nursing Scholarship in partnership with the Rend Lake College Foundation. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a local student pursuing a degree in nursing at Rend Lake College, covering the full cost of tuition, fees, and books.

Graduating high school seniors interested in applying can do so through the Rend Lake College Foundation Scholarships process, as the RLC Foundation will administer the scholarship and select the recipient. Preference will be given to students residing in Hamilton or White County.

This new opportunity reflects the Foundation’s commitment to supporting not just the hospital, but the community it serves. By investing in local students, the Foundation aims to strengthen the future of healthcare close to home while helping young people achieve their educational goals without the burden of debt.

Funding for the scholarship will come from the Foundation’s annual fundraising efforts, including the Scholarship Golf Scramble each spring and the Foundation Gala held every fall. These community-driven events make it possible to support programs that encourage students to pursue healthcare careers and ultimately return home to care for friends, family, and neighbors.

“Our hope is that we continue expanding the ways we support our community,” said Lindsay Hansen, Executive Director of the Hamilton Memorial Foundation. “For years, our Careers in Healthcare Scholarship Program has offered students head start on college funding. Now, offering a full-ride scholarship gives local students the chance to complete college debt-free and build a future right here in our community. This is an investment not only in healthcare, but in the next generation.”

The Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation exists to enhance the health and well-being of our community in meaningful, lasting ways. Supporting students, encouraging healthcare careers, and partnering with local organizations like the Rend Lake College Foundation are key parts of that mission.

The Foundation welcomes community members who want to help make a difference. Anyone can serve on the Foundation Board of Directors and play a role in strengthening our community and supporting programs like this scholarship. The board meets once each quarter, and all are welcome to join. Those interested can call 643-5863 for more information.
