MCLEANSBORO – James Elvis Blazer Sr., 90, of McLeansboro, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
James was born June 25, 1935, in Carmi, IL. On December 3, 1954, he married Betty Joyce (Vines) Blazier and she survives.
James was a sewing machine mechanic for Ainsbrook Sewing Factory for many years. He was a Christian by faith. He loved to fish and work outside, especially gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter, Deborah Hoyt and husband Donald, Mt. Vernon, IL; and a son, James Elvis Blazer Jr., Woodlawn, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren: Matthew Hoyt and wife Angela, Angela Blazier and companion Justin, April Pitman, Daniel Blazier and wife Nicole. Fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive including a brother, Carl D Blazier and wife Tina, Decatur, IL.
James is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Olidine Mick and Georgia Vines; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Blazier.
Visitation for James Blazier will be Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 21, 2025, at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Pollard officiating. The funeral home doors will open Sunday at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Union Ridge Cemetery, New Haven, IL.
Memorials are requested for the American Cancer Association and may be left at the funeral home.
