MCLEANSBORO – Robert Joe “Bob” Wilson, age 71, of McLeansboro, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by loved ones on December 22, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, Illinois.

Bob was born on March 9, 1954, in McLeansboro to Lee and Dana (Storey) Wilson. He graduated from Enfield High School in 1972. He married Sharon Diane Lynn on August 2, 1980, at Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Together they raised three sons: Michael Wilson, Jeremy (Amy) Wilson, and David (Danie Virgil) Wilson.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons; and five grandchildren, Cooper, Hanlee, Granger, Liliana “Lily,” and Isabella “Izzy” Wilson. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl (Bonnie) Wilson of Potosi, Missouri, and Ken (Cindy) Wilson of Makanda, Illinois; his sister, Cathy (David) Gidcumb of Salem, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Joyce Wilson of Carmi, Illinois, and Bobbi Oxford of McLeansboro; brothers-in-law, Gary (Carolyn) Lynn of Dahlgren and Billy (Stephanie) Lynn of McLeansboro; and several dearly loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lee R. Wilson; and his brother-in-law, Timothy Oxford.

Bob was a retired dairy farmer whose life was defined by hard work, Christian faith, leading by example, and devotion to family. In recent years, he enjoyed growing produce in his greenhouse. He previously served on the Hamilton County Farm Bureau Board, Crook Township Board, and McLeansboro Fair Association Board. Bob attended Ten Mile Baptist Church and especially enjoyed attending sporting events and activities involving his grandchildren. His steady presence, quiet wisdom, and fun-loving humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, at noon at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hamilton County Cancer Fighters (HCCF) and will be accepted at the funeral home.
