MCLEANSBORO – Jon Mark Zeman, born April 2, 1951, died Jan. 11, 2026.
Survivors include his special friend, Elvira; three daughters: Lori (Steven) Harriss, Kathy (Scott Summers) Zeman and Cindy (Tim) Brendel; five grandchildren: Molly (Josh) Thomas, Truman Northway, and Willow, Thatcher and Carver Brendel; and many other family members and friends.
Zeman described his life as perfectly satisfactory, a sentiment reflected in the humor woven throughout this self-written obituary. He worked for more than 40 years at several different jobs, staying largely because of the people. Outside of work, he ran marathons, hosted well-known yard sales, and enjoyed dressing in costume whenever the opportunity arose. He liked playing games, watching movies, and believed a good hamburger and fries could solve most problems. A devoted supporter of local sports, he attended games within a 100-mile radius whenever possible, always sitting on the visitors’ side.
No memorial service is planned. Instead, a free-throw contest will be held at a later date. Memorials are not requested; those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to perform a small act of kindness for a friend or stranger.
Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at gholsonfuneralhome.com.
