SESSER – James Darrell Robbins, 79, of Sesser, died at 8:03 a.m. Jan. 15, 2026, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 9, 1947, at his family home on Matthew Street in Sesser, the son of Robert and Zelma Robbins, and spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

He married Linda K. Davis on June 2, 1967, in Scottsburg, Ind. She survives.

Robbins was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and Hazel Dell Free Will Baptist Church. He was known for his dedication to his family, strong work ethic and steadfast faith.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Robbins; a brother, Donald Robbins; four children: Kim Kail (Brad) of De Forest, Wis., Scott Robbins (Sherri) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Rob Robbins (Bonita) of Cabot, Ark., and Cory Robbins (Beth) of Marion; grandchildren: Lindsay Kail, Shelby Adler (Luke), Logan Smith, Levi Smith, Addison Robbins, Alexis Hubler (Josh), Ethan Robbins, Kegan Robbins (Andrea), Conner Robbins and Kody Robbins; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Brenda Robbins.

A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at Horse Prairie Cemetery in Sesser, with Pastor Jim Sloane officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Welch College, formerly Free Will Baptist Bible College, and may be sent to the funeral home.
