MARION – A man who has been on the run for nearly five years was arrested in Williamson County Monday afternoon.
According to the sheriff’s office, Devontae M. Sanders was found just before 2 p.m. in the 300 block of South 5th Street in Marion. Deputies earlier in the day received information on Sanders’ whereabouts.
Sanders was wanted on an active Franklin County arrest warrant for a 2021 case involving Home Invasion, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
After conducting surveillance in an unmarked vehicle, deputies saw Sanders leaving the building. When they approached Sanders, he ran off prompting a brief foot pursuit. Deputies issued repeated verbal commands for Sanders to stop as he attempted to evade arrest. The pursuit ended when Sanders lost traction in a snow-covered field and fell. He was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
In addition to the outstanding felony warrant, Sanders was issued a citation for Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer. He is lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
