SESSER – Anna Mae Loucks, 96, of Sesser, passed away Feb. 15, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 17, 1929, in Du Bois, Illinois, to George and Elda Miller Zettler. She married Carl Loucks on Nov. 19, 1949. They shared nearly 54 years of marriage before his death on Sept. 20, 2003.
Mrs. Loucks was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and was known for her life of hard work and sacrifice. She worked at Decca Records and alongside her husband on their farm. She enjoyed country dancing, tending to her large garden, and canning. Even after her husband’s passing, she maintained her love for farming, often watching the crops from her porch. Her greatest joy was her family and ensuring everyone was home safe each night.
She is survived by one daughter, Doris (Randall) Worley of Scheller; six grandchildren, Tammy (John) Launius, Brent (Becky) Loucks, Chanda (Edvis) Taylor, Andrea (Keith) Trader, Bryce (Heather Kelly) Worley, and Amanda (Eric) Gajewski; 11 great-grandchildren, Preston (Madison) Launius, Seth (fiancée Haden Harmon) Loucks, Quinn (Alyssa Dawson) Gajewski, Pearson (fiancée Jillian Shaneyfelt) Launius, Wyatt (Patrice Laur) Loucks, Sophie (Caleb Hall) Trader, Addie Trader, Shaelyn Taylor, Hagen Gajewski, Easton Trader, and Pearl Worley; one sister, Edna Morgan of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Barbara Loucks of Sesser; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Carl “Gene” Loucks; and siblings, Harold Dean Zettler, George Zettler, Loretta Gladson, Viola Dublo, Bob Zettler, and Tommy Glascock.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with Brother Larry Cook officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser.
