DAHLGREN — Janet K. Hook, 81, of Dahlgren, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her husband and children.
She was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Peoria, Illinois, to Paul and Louise (Trotter) Trotter. She married Gary Hook on Nov. 9, 1963, in Dahlgren. He survives.
Hook graduated from Dahlgren High School and later attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Indiana. She worked for the Social Security Administration in Mount Vernon, Illinois, until 1981. She then dedicated her time to her family and assisted with the family farming operation and gardening.
She was an active member of Dahlgren Community Chapel, where she played piano, sang harmony and assisted with church activities.
Hook was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She also enjoyed watching movies and spending time with loved ones.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, Michelle Kauble and husband David, Greg Hook and wife Shelley, and Lynnette Davenport and husband Michael; seven grandchildren, Jordan Adams and husband Kody, Alexandria Kauble, Logan Kauble, Evan Hook, Cooper Hook, Seth Davenport and Ava Davenport; and two great-grandchildren, Belle Adams and Leo Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Emery Trotter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Gholson Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Hefner officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at IOOF Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Fairfield Memorial Hospital, third-floor skilled care unit, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
