BENTON — Rosalie Nadler, 90, of Benton, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2026.

Her family will gather Saturday, Feb. 28, for a visitation honoring Rosalie and her late husband, Arnold Nadler. Arnold Nadler died April 22, 2020. Their ashes will be interred together at a later date.

Rosalie was known as the matriarch of her family and for her unconditional love, warm hospitality and joyful spirit. She was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was known for her home-cooked meals, laughter and welcoming home.

She was born Rosalie Whitecotton on May 3, 1935, in Illinois, into a blended family of 21 children. Her father died in an accident when she was 3 months old, and she was raised by her mother, Rosa Whitecotton. The family lived in the mining town of Clifford and later in Herrin.

She attended school in Herrin and later met the love of her life, Arnold Nadler, at the Blue Heaven. The couple married and built their first home in Herrin, where they welcomed three children: Richard, Susan and Valerie. They later moved to Sesser, where they built another home and welcomed their fourth child, Joel. The family eventually settled in Benton, where they designed and built additional homes and remained active members of the community.

Rosalie was a dedicated wife and mother. She was known for preparing hearty breakfasts and family dinners, decorating her home for the holidays and reading to her children. She enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles, interior decorating and caring for her family.

Survivors include three children, Susan Blaylock and husband Bob of Wentzville, Missouri, Valerie Newberry and husband Scott of Marion, Illinois, and Joel Nadler and wife Meghan of Bloomfield, Indiana; five grandchildren, Doug Blaylock and wife Heidi of O’Fallon, Illinois, Angie Belford and husband Tim of Goreville, Illinois, Richard Blaylock of Wilmington, North Carolina, Greg Newberry and wife Jennifer of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, and Raymond Nadler of Bloomfield, Indiana; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Nadler; a son, Richard Dale Nadler; and several siblings. Phyllis McSpadden of Naperville, Illinois, is her only surviving sibling.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery will take place at a later date.
