EL PASO, TX – Nell Harrawood died Aug. 21, 2025, and her husband, Donald Harrawood, died Dec. 1, 2023, both in El Paso, Texas.

Nell was the daughter of Moses and Julia Mayberry. Donald was the son of Daye and Florence Harrawood.

The couple married July 4, 1950, in McLeansboro, Illinois.

Nell was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. Donald enjoyed tending his koi ponds and smoking and grilling food. They were Protestant by faith. Donald served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include their daughter, Trina Schafer and her husband, Howard, of El Paso; a son, Eric Harrawood and his wife, Imelda, of El Paso; and four grandchildren, Chloe Schafer of Orlando, Florida; Christa Schafer of Miami; Chiara Schafer of Miami; and Erika Harrawood of Dallas.

They were preceded in death by their parents, each other, and a grandson, Alan Ray Harrawood.

A joint funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. March 7, 2026, at Dale Community Church in Dale, Illinois, with Pastor Rodney Brock officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Digby Hill Cemetery in Dale. The church will open at 10:30 a.m.

Military honors will be accorded by the Military Honor Guard and American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro.
