CHRISTOPHER – Randall D. Majdich, 78, of Christopher, Illinois, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at a Christian Care Center in Indiana.

He was born Feb. 23, 1948, at his childhood home in Sesser, Illinois, to Gertrude and August “Goose” Majdich.

He married Sue Hammonds on Aug. 19, 1978. They shared 46 years of marriage before her death.

Survivors include his sons, Anthony Majdich, Wesley Cook and his husband, Ewar, and Andrew Cook and his wife, Julie; daughters, Tiffany Mahon and Juliane Hamilton; and grandchildren, Halle Majdich, Emma Cook and Nicholas Cook.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Majdich; his parents; sisters, De Etta Lou Sanchez and Roberta Brown; a brother, Dennis Majdich; and several nieces and nephews.

Majdich was a Christian, a leader in the coal mining industry, a Vietnam War veteran who served as a captain in the U.S. Army, and a Freemason. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing poker with family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mulkeytown Cemetery.
