MCLEANSBORO – Larry Joe Easley, 62, of McLeansboro, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at SIH Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL. He was born on May 5, 1963, to Olin “Bud” Easley and Mary Louise (Bailey) Easley.

Larry was a lifetime member of the Hamilton County Historical Society, a member of the metal detecting club, and a member of the Fairfield Coin Club. He had previously worked in the produce department at the Food Park grocery store in McLeansboro, and he was of the Baptist faith.

Larry loved collecting coins, metal detecting, and learning about local history — and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.

Larry is survived by his parents, Bud and Louise Easley of McLeansboro; his brother, Gary Easley of McLeansboro; his nephew, Jon Easley of Freeburg, IL; his niece, Kirsten Easley of Cambria, IL; two great-nephews, Carter Duncan and Caleb Duncan of Cambria, IL; his sister-in-law, Nicolle Easley of Freeburg, IL; and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Easley; his sister, Teresa Easley; and his grandparents, Rachel and Homer Bailey and Lois Bowers and Denver Easley.

Funeral services for Larry Joe Easley will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Deacon Archie Bowers officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Garrison Cemetery in Aden, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
