HARRISBURG – A Harrisburg man allegedly stole a vehicle early Friday and ended up crashing it later in the day after Harrisburg Police spotted him driving the vehicle on Locust Street and tried to stop him.

Police say 33-year-old Jerry D. Zappa was informally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Converted Motor Vehicle, Driving while License Revoked, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Restraint, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, three counts of Aggravated Fleeing to Elude a Peace Officer, two counts of Endangering the Life or Health of a Child and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.

Zappa is currently a suspect in two other motor vehicle thefts and those investigations continue. Zappa was booked into the George F. Henley Detention Center.

After Zappa fled police, he was involved in a crash with two unattended vehicles. Zappa and two juvenile females fled on foot. They were caught. Zappa was taken into custody. The juveniles were released.
