BENTON – Frank Martin Williams, 72, of Benton, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at Deaconess Regional Healthcare Services of Illinois.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated, and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Williams was born Feb. 17, 1953, in Benton, Ill., the son of Martin Luther Williams and Sarah Cooper Williams.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Benton American Legion Post No. 280. He previously worked in security at Kerr-McGee Coal Co. and was also self-employed as a contractor.
Williams enjoyed shooting pool, playing board games — especially Yahtzee — and fishing.
Survivors include his son, Luke Williams of Benton; a brother, James Edward Williams of Benton; and two sisters, Ruby Ellen Slayton of Thompsonville, Ill., and Sherry Vercellino and her husband, Rodney, of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, George Alfred “Turkey Knob” Williams.
