MCLEANSBORO – Linda Kay (Austin) Holder, 74, of McLeansboro, Illinois, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at Fox Meadows Supportive Living in McLeansboro.

She was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Jabez and Mabel Austin. She married Loy Allen Holder Sr. on Jan. 17, 1975. He preceded her in death.

Linda was a homemaker and also mowed lawns for extra income. She enjoyed attending church and special church functions at the Free Will Baptist Church in O’Kean, Arkansas. Her hobbies included mowing, reading, doing puzzles, playing bingo and Wii bowling. She loved the outdoors and animals and owned several pets over the years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Survivors include her son, Loy Allen Holder Jr.; sisters: Maxine Sork, Sharon Depew (Ballard), Jean Putnam and Alanna Moehn; brothers: David Austin (Luisa), Loy Austin and Lloyd Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Gregg Lee Holder; and a brother, Cyrus Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with the Rev. Jacob Gray officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Randolph Memorial Gardens in Pocahontas, Arkansas, with interment to follow.
