MULKEYTOWN – Paul Price, 74, of Mulkeytown, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was born Jan. 6, 1952, in Christopher to Carl and Mary (Essex) Price. He married Paula Pedigo on Nov. 21, 1986, and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Price of Mulkeytown; children: Christa Price and Melissa Price, both of West Frankfort, Shannon (Camara) Price of Mulkeytown and Tiffany Norris of Mulkeytown; grandchildren: Aiden Ivanov, Madilyn Kelton, Emma Price, Jocy Price and Chance Norris; siblings: Susan Vaughn of Mulkeytown, Patty Mack of West Frankfort, Brenda (Vic) Maze of Herrin, David (Candy) Price of Christopher and Alan (Becky) Price of Mulkeytown; an aunt, Martha Dennison of Christopher; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Vicki (Chris) Hammonds of Benton, Valerie (James) Price of Benton and Jim Rutherford of Bush; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Dorothy Price; three brothers-in-law: Rabrum Vaughn, Daryl Pedigo and Barney Mack; and a sister-in-law, Laura Rutherford.

Price enjoyed spending time on his mower, operating his backhoe, riding around town in the Mule with his family and chopping wood for the wood burner. He enjoyed gambling, dining out and visiting with friends. In later years, he especially enjoyed traveling to the mountains with his wife and spending time on the back deck watching deer. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren and enjoyed teasing them. He was active in his church and was well known in the community, often referred to as the unofficial mayor of Mulkeytown.

He was employed at Turko Manufacturing, worked at Waltonville Mine with his father and brother, owned his own construction company and was also employed by Prestige Trailer Company, Stotlar Lumber Company and Tom Fisher Construction.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Pastor Guy Webster officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery.
