DAHLGREN – Gerald Lee Muehlenbein, 83, of Dahlgren, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. Gerald was born on July 4, 1940, to Edward & Jennie (Garrison) Muehlenbein.
Gerald was a construction worker, and a member of the Laborers Local 561 union in Evansville, IN. He enjoyed working outside, gardening, and playing music. He was a talented guitar, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin player.
Gerald is survived by 3 nieces Rhonda Pfister & husband Bernie of Enfield, IL; Teresa Belangee & husband Eddie of Dahlgren, IL and Kimberley Runge & husband Curtis of Marion, IL; a nephew Darrel Nelson & wife Peggy of Thomasboro, IL; eight great nieces & great nephews Brandon Pfister, Michael Belangee, Kelli Webb & husband Adam, Terri Newbury & husband Ben, Todd Nelson, Aleena Doolen & husband Ian, Ben Nelson & wife Lori, and Tony Nelson; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Jennie Muehlenbein, two brothers Lloyd Muehlenbein and Edward “Russell” Muehlenbein, a sister Helen Nelson, and two nephews Ronald Ray Muehlenbein and Danny Joe Nelson.
Graveside funeral services for Gerald Lee Muehlenbein were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Crouch Cemetery at Belle Prairie, IL with Pastor Marvin Webb officiating. Those attending were asked to meet directly at the cemetery. The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro, IL, was in charge of arrangements.
