KEENES (WMIX) – A 46-year-old Keenes man was arrested shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday morning when the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a possible hostage situation at a home in rural Keenes.

A caller told dispatch they believed David L. Young was armed with a knife and holding a woman against her will at the home.

With assistance from Fairfield and Wayne City police officers, Wayne County deputies immediately responded to the home where they made contact with the occupants through the door, but Young refused to open the door and made threats to responding officers if they entered the home.

A woman then began screaming for help inside the home, so deputies reportedly forced open the door and saw Young holding a woman by her foot and holding a metal object. They also saw blood.

Deputies quickly tasered Young and took him into custody on charges of Unlawful Restraint, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Domestic Battery, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of Methamphetamine.

The woman was treated at the scene by Wayne City Ambulance personnel and was released.

She reportedly told deputies Young had held her captive since 1:30 that morning and began threatening her with knives, pliers, and a screwdriver.

The victim reportedly said Young believed she had a device of some kind imbedded in her foot and he was using these instruments to try and remove it. The victim stated Young threatened to kill her numerous times.

A search warrant was later executed at the home. Deputies recovered methamphetamine and numerous instruments with blood on them.
