SALEM (WMIX) – A Kell couple had a run of bad luck Tuesday when they lost two vehicles in separate incidents.

According to Salem Police, just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, Caleb Pruitt was traveling westbound on West Main in Salem when he was involved in a crash with a pickup truck driven by Keith Sheeler of Salem.

Then as Pruitt’s wife, Darian, was on her way to help her husband, the car she was driving caught fire.

Darian told police she was driving on Hoots Chapel Road just south of Tonti Road when her engine failure light came on.

After smelling smoke, she got out of the car and noticed flames. The flames moved quickly and fully engulfed the car.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office advised the public just after 7 p.m. that the roadway was closed due to a vehicle fire.

Both Caleb’s vehicle and Darian’s vehicle were destroyed within minutes of each other.
