MCLEANSBORO – Police in McLeansboro need your help identifying two people they say are suspected of using fake money.

The suspects were caught on closed circuit TV security footage from several businesses in McLeansboro. These two males may not be from the area and are believed to be traveling in a silver Chevy Malibu. The vehicle’s plates had been removed at the time of the incident however they may have been placed back on the vehicle after leaving the scene.

The suspects used at least two different older style $100 bills. Both bills were checked with a counterfeit currency marker and passed however the bills were later found to be fake after using sanitized liquid to show the ink would smudge.

McLeansboro Police are asking businesses in the southern Illinois area to be on the lookout for counterfeit money.
