METROPOLIS – A Florida man was recently charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Aggravated Assault after he allegedly pointed a gun at another person at the I-24 Rest Area in Metropolis.

According to Metropolis Police, officers responded to the rest area Wednesday and learned that the victim, an employee, asked the driver to move his illegally parked semi. The driver pointed a handgun at him and left. He was seen entering I-24 eastbound toward Kentucky. Kentucky State Police and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office were notified.

The vehicle was located and stopped at mile marker 13 on I-24. A search located the handgun.

Police arrested and charged 31-year-old Martavis D. Duroseau of Miami, FL on the aforementioned charges. He was released on a notice to appear.
